I was the thriller in the Ali-Frazier Manila

I think that this wu lyric is the muse for my hip hop/boxing thesis. Nas versus Jay. But who is who/whom? This may add another element to the Nas v. Jay deabte.

Rakim = Joe Louis

Ring magazine rated Joe Louis No. 1 on a list of the worlds greatest punchers. If Jay is ali then Rakim must be Joe Louis. I saw Rakim live last night at the Roseland in Portland. His delivery was awesome. I wish that I had a story like my friend Ethan Phillips who was playing bass for the band that backed up Rakim. When he was 10 he got the Eric B. and Rakim album and now he is playing in the back up band. For me, I started listening to Rakim way after the fact and I am glad i did. A sportswriter said about joe louis that he is "a credit to his race, the human race". The same can be said about Rakim. "how can i move the crowed?'

50 versus Kid Dynamite

This one is not real hard. Both born in New York both had great early careers and then faded.

the rap game and boxing game are broken

just watched one of the most disappointing Friday Night Fights in recent memory. Also read an article about Lil Wayne in GQ magazine. First the fight: Julio "Baby Face" Garcia 40-2 was supposed to mop up Troy Browing who just cam off knee surgery. Garcia flat out did not show up. Poor Teddy Atlas, the guy is trying to single handily keep boxing alive had to keep apologizing for" baby face". Atlas should have called Garica pussy face and sat octagon side tomorrow night for the BJ Penn Pulver fight. As for little wayne he is another pitchfork approved rapper. The article was not very long but essentially said that Wayne is in fact "the best rapper alive" I am not sure that GQ and pitchfork approval gets you much play on the tour bus, but it let me off the hook for eagerly awaiting "tha carter III"

Friday Night Fights vs. Dizzee Rascal

I just got the new Dizzee Rascal album "Maths + English" and there is a hell of a main event on Friday Night Fights. The similarities exist. Both the fighters and Dizzee Rascal hail from outside the U.S. Lucian Bute is from Canada and Sakio Bika is from Cameroon. All three have been heavily hyped. Dizzee Rascal since his stateside hit "fix up, look sharp" and Bute and Bika are ranked 10th and 5th respectively by ringside magazine. I think the Dizzee Rascal album is really good so far, and it comes pitchfork fork certified so I can play it in my subaru. As for the fighters, Bika like Dizzee may be headed for a breakout year. Bika has gone up to Canada to take on the home town set and Dizzee may be heading for U.S. success.

O.D.T. Old Dirty Tapia

I think that Osiris must be represented by Johnny Tapia. They are both bannanas and looks like Tapia may have a similar future ahead of him. I'm the one man army ason never been tooken out.
